PUZZLEMENT
No. 04171 000 figures

A thousand figures, one set.

In 1903 the American puzzle maker Sam Loyd announced seven ancient Books of Tan, a thousand figures each, and quoted a proverb he said was Chinese, about the fool who would write the eighth. There were no books and no proverb. He wrote the eighth himself.

This is the ninth. A thousand figures, every one made of the same seven pieces, drawn by a contract on Ethereum.

Make it or buy it.

  1. Make a figure with all seven pieces, no overlaps, and keep a copy. A kept copy is yours for good and never moves.
  2. Buy the original. There is one of each figure, a thousand in all. It arrives as a shadow; make it yourself to see its pieces.
  3. Made a figure first? Take its original at the same price as anyone, while it is still in the book.
  4. Every resale of an original pays 5 % to the fool who wrote the book.
  5. The contract draws every figure. Its owner only sets up the collection on OpenSea, then renounces.

The Box

Every figure is worth nine tenths of the next one.

A thousand originals. The first costs 0.001 ETH and every next one 0.000015 ETH more. Nine tenths of every payment stay in the Box, and the Box buys any original back for nine tenths of the latest price, any time. One tenth goes to the fool who wrote the book.
